Kombat Taekwondo has taken a historic step in the evolution of the format by announcing the public release of the Kombat Poomsae Series, a comprehensive 10-part curriculum that establishes the first official standard for combat-oriented Poomsae within the Kombat Taekwondo system.
Developed by Grandmaster Dario Bonfante in collaboration with the Kombat Taekwondo Technical Team, this series represents years of dedicated work focused on technical innovation. It combines practical real-combat concepts, dynamic movement, and a modern athletic presentation, while remaining true to the values and traditional heritage of Taekwondo.
Unlike traditional poomsae, which have formed the foundation of the art for decades, the Kombat Poomsae Series focuses on real-world striking mechanics, mobility, angles, and functional tactical sequences. Its goal is to bridge the gap between form and effective combat, aligning Taekwondo with the current landscape of professional combat sports such as MMA, Muay Thai, and boxing.
“Kombat Taekwondo is proud to present our own structured, combat-based Poomsae system. While traditional Poomsae have been the foundation of Taekwondo for decades, this development expands the art into a modern, combat-oriented framework, aligned with today’s global contact sports landscape.”
-Rick W. Shin, President of Kombat Taekwondo.
“The Kombat Poomsae Series represents years of experience and dedication to technical innovation. Our goal was to create a meaningful and functional curriculum for Kombat Taekwondo, while respecting the art’s heritage.”
-Grandmaster Dario Bonfante, Chairman of the Instructor Program.
This initiative aims to standardize technical training worldwide, support instructor development, facilitate certification, and lay the groundwork for future competition formats within the Kombat Taekwondo system, including events such as the Kombat Grand Prix and national championships.
The complete series is now available to the public on the official Kombat Taekwondo YouTube channel.
