An official statement from PARATAEKWONDO MEX also reported that athlete Mauricio Gutiérrez had met his strategic objectives: he successfully completed his functional qualification before the international qualifiers and made his debut with a first-round victory, closing out his competition with a close match against the world medalist in his category.
According to the technical analysis included in the document, the athletes' 100% success rate on the podium secures crucial points for seeding in the Rome Grand Prix and the Pan American Championships.
In addition to these achievements, Mexico's Araceli Ornelas was named the event's best parataekwondo referee.
CONADE's support was key to ensuring the logistics and support provided by the multidisciplinary team, enabling optimal performance without any reported injuries.
This first event of the year, leading up to the World Championships, also marks the debut of the discipline as a regular event in World Taekwondo’s G2 tournaments. This year, the traditional Grand Prix series will include the parataekwondo discipline in all of its editions (Rome, Muju, Paris, and Astana).
With this performance, Mexico reaffirms its leadership in international para-taekwondo and positions itself as the favorite heading into the upcoming competitions of the Olympic cycle.
